Margot Robbie leaves Aussie fans ‘crying’ over surprise act at Sydney restaurant
Margot Robbie reportedly left fans ‘crying’ after the Aussie actress shouted everyone at Sydney restaurant Mimi’s a free cocktail over the weekend.
The Barbie actress visited the Coogee restaurant on Saturday with her husband Tom Ackerley, with the 33-year-old being met with applause after shouting her fellow restaurant-goers with a round of cocktails from her gin brand Papa Salt.
One patron told The Sunday Telegraph that “some people were crying” over the announcement, adding Margot spent over an hour taking photos and chatting with the crowd.
Another diner said she’d been having lunch when she “unexpectedly” saw the star, who she described as approachable and “made everyone feel like they were a part of her lunch”.
“Everyone, young and old, were wanting photos with her,” someone else said of the “incredibly patient” star. “Some people were crying they couldn’t believe their luck. She left straight from the restaurant to catch a flight to Auckland.”
Margot visited Sydney as part of a promotional tour for her Byron Bay-made gin. The star also visited several other Australian cities and bought the first round for patrons at a Brisbane bar.
It comes after Margot’s film Barbie beat The Avengers, pushing the Marvel film to the 12th highest-grossing film. It’s the only film in the top 20 highest-grossing films of all time to be directed by a woman.
Barbie also stands out as a feminist comedy, while many of the other films on the list are superhero or fantasy titles.
Margot, who was also a producer on the flick, will make almost $80 million from the film thanks to her salary and box office bonuses, Variety reports.
